Had Matt and his daughter Miranda out this morning in the kayaks on lower Tampa Bay. We got started around 8 am and headed out to some deeper grass flats and channels to fish for a variety of different species. We landed pompano, jack cravelle, lady fish, spanish mackeral, lizard fish, and whiting.
After some non stop action with the different species of fish we headed for shallower water looking for redfish. Standing up in my Hobie kayak it was not long before I located an area holding a lot of redfish. We stopped and got set up throwing jigs and bait. Miranda was the first to hook up and that just opened the flood gates. We caught over size redfish for the next two hours with only one fish in the slot.
Miranda hooked up to a big overslot redfish.
After Miranda landed her fish her dad got in on the action with a big over slot for himself. He had the hot hand for a little before Miranda got back into the game.

Me and Matt with his biggest fish off the day, well over slot!
There were plenty of double hooks up to go around… I almost had to reel in a fish or two.
Sorry fellas, the ladies normally catch the big ones.
After it was all said and done we had caught and released at least a dozen over slot redfish along with the one lone slot sized fish of the day (pictured above). The redfish bite is on fire and there are plenty of other species to go around, in total we caught and released 10 different species of fish today! Off the water and back in the AC by 2..
