He began his fishing career at 8 and, starting at age 12, worked as a part-time crew hand on local fishing charter boats. Over the years, he worked his way to first mate and gained practical fishing experience and knowledge to operate and manage a fishing trip charter business.

Growing up in Tampa Bay, Spencer developed his fishing and boating skills as a kid and gained invaluable hands-on know-how about fishing in local waters. Today, he spends over 250 days a year on the water and knows the best spots to catch fish and deliver an action-packed adventure for his clients.

As a professional fisherman, Captain Spencer has entered many Major League Fishing Tournaments with wins and noticeable catches featured in published articles in prestigious fishing magazines such as Florida Sportsman, Kayak Fishing Magazine, and Onshore Offshore Magazines. Even though Spencer was young then, he often appeared in Onshore- Offshore Magazine.

Fishing Trip Charter Owner for over 10 Years

Captain Spencer previously owned and operated Tampa Bay Kayak Charters as a successful business. He was a fishing guide and coordinated the navigation of a small fleet of kayaks. The small fleet paddled from Fort De Soto through Tampa Bay, stopping at diverse places to fish. In 2018, he migrated his kayak charter to formed Seein’ Red Sport Fishing LLC as a boat fishing charter business for inshore fishing in the Tampa Bay Area. Captain Spence has over 10 years of experience as a sole proprietor of a full-time fishing trip charter business.

Captain has been the founder, owner, operation manager, chief bottle washer & boat cleaner and Captain of Seein’ Red SportFishing Charters for over 7 years. Seein’ Red Sport Fishing LLC is recorded in Sunbiz.org with a Federal Tax ID of 83-1741167 and is insured.

Competent Captain with Credentials.

He holds a USCG Master Captain license, the highest level of captain’s license that can be obtained. This license allows him to perform the duties of an OUPV/Six-Pack captain. Captain Spencer has also taken boating and seamanship courses through the US Coast Guard.

In addition, Captain Spencer is a member of the APCA Drug Consortium, which complies with federal drug regulations and testing as required by the US Coast Guard. He is also “First Aid Certified and is required to re-certify every year for CPR and other procedures preventing loss of life.

Captain Spencer is well-versed in all the safety procedures and emergency equipment on board his boat and can use 3 communication devices in case of a breakdown.

Captain Spencer has over 15 years of hands-on experience as a first mate and captain navigating the waters of the Tampa Bay area, including Gulf waters of Pinellas County (St. Petersburg, St. Pete Beach, Gulfport, John’s Pass, Fort De Soto, Shell Key, Eggmount Key, Ann Marie Island), Tampa Bay and Hillsborough River.

He has spent effort in structuring each charter with the required planning, preparation, timeline, and diverse places to stop for fish. He uses his expert fishing skills to find the target fish. He coordinates the schedule of activities and manages the timeline to ensure the charter is not boring.

As captain, he promotes safety as the first priority. He follows his best practices for fishing and teaches best practices through instructions to beginners or by presenting his best practices through recommendations for experienced anglers.

Captain Spencer’s popular Inshore Fishing, Tarpon Fishing and Custom Fishing Charters are focused on going after specific fish that are in season and running at the time at different places in the bay and gulf area. Captain Spencer determines where the fish are based on his expert fishing skills, experience, and constantly updated knowledge of the Tampa Bay waters. He uses the current environmental signs to find fish, such as seabirds or marine birds seeking fish.

Captain Spencer has a sterling reputation for finding the target fish. Even his charter competitors on the bay or gulf recognize his ability and will follow Captain Spencer’s boat when they spot him because his accuracy in finding fish is uncanny.
