Nick called me yesterday afternoon looking to get some last minute fishing in this afternoon after flying in from Ohio. Fortunately I had the afternoon slot open and was able to get him Nick and Bill out. We met in Fort Desoto Park near the Sunshine Skyway around 2 pm and paddled out. The wind was stiff out of the east but we were able to stay out of it which made paddling much easier.

After a decent paddle and after seeing some fishing we started fishing. At first we were using various assortment of lures but the bite proved to be tough on the fake stuff. I had brought along some shrimp just in case and that proved to be the ticket. The bite was not fast and furious but we managed to get a couple slot redfish and a trout to bring home.

For a last second four hour trip, we did pretty good. The weather this week is going to continue a warming trend and the tides look fantastic come this weekend and next week. Dates are starting to fill up around the low tides, if you want to get on the fish they are going to bite with this warmer weather!
