Got out on the boat a couple times this past week and also mated for Capt. Jim Lemke (lighttackleadventures.com) on some of his trips. We had a great week of tarpon fishing, fishing the crab flushes during the new moon in Tampa Bay. Using mostly pass crabs and blue crabs as bait we had a couple banner days and even landed a 220 pound (84″ length x 42.5″ girth) monster tarpon!

Kayak charters for tarpon are best in the late summer when tarpon move from the beaches and passes and into the bay to feed for the remainder of the summer. The heat can be unbearable some days, but the action can be worth it! Nothing is more exhilarating than hooking a tarpon from a kayak.

Here are some pics of the action.
